Fierce XL: A Windows 10 Mobile Phone from AOT (Hands-On)

2016-01-05
as the windows10 train picks up steam another smartphone maker hits the scene to remind us all that you don't need to own a lumia to own a Windows Phone I'm Michael Fisher with PocketNow and this is a quick hands-on with the fierce excel from Alcatel OneTouch ok so the name fierce is probably over selling it a little this is a smartphone designed to come in at an affordable price and so it makes the spec sacrifices you'd expect from such a device the processor is a snapdragon 210 not beefy enough to run continuum the camera tops out at 8 megapixels in 720p and the screen is a large but not particularly remarkable five and a half inches at Full HD couple that with the generic design and you've got a recipe for an OK smartphone as long as it doesn't cost more than a few bucks a month still äôt says this device builds on some of Windows Phones longtime strengths like running well even on pretty low grade hardware which it does seem to do at least on the test model we tried here at CES there's also a micro SD card good for an additional 32 gigs of storage 2 gigs of ram and dragon trail glass protecting the display so the fierce XL certainly has some things going for it particularly if you're one of the 1 million people on t-mobile who are using a Windows Phone 7 or 8 device and looking for an affordable upgrade to 10 for me the pierce XL is more exciting in terms of what it represents a serious investment by a major manufacturer in Windows 10 smartphones and we get a feeling it won't be the last for specific release timing pricing and more on the fierce excel check out our news post at pocketnow.com and be sure to subscribe here on YouTube for much more from CES 2016 until next time there have been Michael Fisher with high auto Houston behind the camera thanks for watching we'll see you next time
