ZTE SPro 2 Review: Cool Android Gaming Is Just Part Of It
2015-05-16
I'm Jaime Rivera with pocket now and
this is the ZTE SPRO - I know it's a
digital projector
kanda yes it's powered by Android if
you're already asking yourself why would
you need such a thing as a smart
projector well let me show you see the
ZTE s pro 2 is more than just the
digital projector this is the perfect
example of Android running on a new form
factor but in essence this is really an
Android phone on a different chassis it
has a 5-inch 720p display 2 gigahertz
Snapdragon 801 processor 2 gigs of ram
16 gigs of expandable storage and even
LTE Wi-Fi and bluetooth connectivity
again just like every other Android
phone heck there are even volume buttons
and a speakerphone and a microphone at
the bottom just like every other phone
as well weren't the first from a regular
phone as in the fact that the chassis is
clearly a very miniaturized projector it
also has a 200 lumens slammed in the
front
the ventilation ports that will keep the
lamp cool on the sides and the fact that
it supports other input methods like
HDMI USB 3.0 and it even has a tripod
mount at the bottom in addition to a
massive 6300 milliamp hour battery now
or it the first from your average
projector is that you won't see any
knobs at the front to help you focus or
keystone your image on the wall
this is a smart projector so it'll
detect the wall and actually adapt
everything within seconds really cool so
yeah what you're buying here is truly a
smart projector in every sense of the
word and that's also a mobile hotspot
that you can even use for conference
calls with a little creativity now since
this does run Android 4.4.4 kitkat under
an enhanced skin from ZTE there's really
no limit to what you can do with this
product if you want to watch a movie or
watch a video you can do so from
anywhere you want since the projector
can give you between three to four
hours of lamb time left the need of a
power cord pure gamer simply parry her
favorite Bluetooth remote controller to
the s pro 2 and you can play your
favorite android games from any
available wall at your place
you can even karaoke with this thing
through the vast library of music you'll
find on YouTube and yes you can also use
it for the typical projector stuff like
a PowerPoint slide presentation and
stuff now just keep in mind that the OS
is really the phone's version of Android
so this can be bitter bad on the
positive front you have androids
extensive list of applications games and
needy to choose from but on the negative
side not all content is optimized to
work in landscape on android games like
sky forge do play on this device but at
the cost of only giving you the option
to play vertically which is not what
this projector was designed for other
than that my experience with the s pro 2
has been a true delight see games like
that trigger to play beautifully on this
projector and your average Bluetooth
controller can map to whatever keys that
trigger requires so that's really cool
again as long as you find the right
games that could play with this and then
again as a projector the 200 lumens lamp
is very bright and even the 100 lumens
option that becomes a default with
battery life is also decently bright
speaking of battery life Zi T's promise
of three hours of lamp time or eight
hours of the hotspot time was right on
the dot it was really good and another
high point of this projector was its
speaker which was extremely loud and
very convenient for things like watching
a movie it doesn't seem like if you need
an external speaker I guess the final
question is should you buy a ZTE s.r.o -
at the moment it's only available on
AT&T for 399 plus a two-year contract or
$4.99 contract free but the $10 monthly
fee for some of you this might be steep
but your average dumb digital projector
would cost anything between 399 and 1400
dollars at any Best Buy
so yeah the escrow tool is a far better
option this is truly a smart projector
you should consider now if what you're
looking for is a cooler way to play
games watch videos or similar stuff this
may not necessarily be what you're
looking for given all the portrait fixed
content that Android still has on its
phone version but your mileage may vary
it all depends on you bottom line as
much as things can be different per user
I'll admit this is one of the coolest
products that I've tested this year and
one that I would highly recommend to
anyone folks for more coverage of the
ZTS Pro 2 and every other awesome
