if you're in the market for a new
microphone to record voiceover stream on
twitch create voiceovers for a podcast
etc you've probably looked at
microphones like the blue snowball and
Yeti just because that's what everyone's
recommending and while they are good
there are options out there that are
just as good if not better
you've got Audio Technica with their
at2020 Sennheiser rode Samson and Asus
this is the ROG Strix Magnus and it's a
$200 microphone with three condenser
capsules having three instead of just
one enables you to switch between
different modes the - has three of them
one being the normal mode for voice the
second being a dual mode for projects
like for example interviews where you
put the microphone in between two
peoples speaking and lastly you've got
the electronic noise cancellation it
tries to remove background noises like
key press and mouse clicks the Magnus's
design is well I don't even know what to
say
it's well-built and sturdy with a metal
shell and my cover but it looks horrible
I guess what they were aiming for was to
create a microphone that could stand up
by itself
maybe you know without a stand but to be
honest with you I'd rather have a
normal-looking microphone with a stand
than an oversized deodorant stick in
terms of i/o you've got two USB ports
one for connecting to your computer and
one as a hub I'm having a hard time
figuring out what to actually use the
hub for though anyway you'll also find
two aux ports one for monitoring
audio which is great to see by the way
and one as an aux in I guess that is if
you want to connect an instrument or
another microphone so you get audio from
two sources on the same device and track
and that's pretty clever actually you'll
also see two sliders on each side of the
mic one is for the monitoring volume and
one's for the mic volume on the left
side there's also a mute button oh yeah
and there's RGB lighting of course and
if you're wondering which side is right
when you're recording
you're supposed to have all the knobs
and controls faced towards you while
speaking I had difficulties figuring
that out at first so let's go through
the pros and cons of this microphone
starting with the pros it's well-built
it's got different modes to choose
between meaning it's versatile you can
monitor the audio by connecting your
headphones to it and lastly you get a
really nice carrying case in the box and
as for the cons I've got a few it's ugly
and easily wobbles and falls over on
your desk
the volume sliders are smooth and not
clicky which makes it hard to set a
volume and keep it that way every time
you record and lastly it's expensive at
$200 I think you'd be better off
purchasing a blue yeti rode nt1 or audio
technica at2020 review voiceover has
been recorded on districts Magnus
so yeah just evaluate this audio and
decide whether or not the ROG Strix
Magnus is worth its $200 price tag so
thanks for watching feel free to like
and subscribe if you enjoyed this video
I'd really appreciate it and yeah I'll
see you guys in the next one peace
