you read the title and know Android
smartwatches aren't literally dead but
they're not far from it either so why is
it that Android smartwatches
particularly are doing so bad while
apples are doing much better because no
one buys them and why aren't people
buying them because there's no new or
innovative features coming out and why
is that because no one other than
enthusiasts are buying them and there's
not a whole lot of enthusiasts out there
so yeah it's a downward spiral of
failure and if you don't believe me here
are some numbers to back that up on your
screen right now is the global market
share of smartwatches
take a look at q3 of 2016 and you'll see
that Apple accounts for 40% Garmin for
20% Samsung for 14.4%
and then there's that purple thing which
is the combined market share of
smartwatches of all brands other than
the ones listed before 17% not a whole
lot and I'm willing to bet that not even
the full 17% is made of Android wear
watches so yeah it's it's pretty bad now
sure it's been getting better a year
before that point they were at 7% so yes
they are growing but still doesn't
matter what matters is the fact that
companies are not willing to spend a lot
of their allocated R&D funds on these
expensive to engineer watches that is
probably the biggest reason as to why
Android wear is to him so bad another
one is just the fact that people aren't
willing to wear a watch anymore
it's 2017 so why should you what I think
goes on in many customers Minds is why
should I spend two to five hundred
dollars on a SmartWatch that does the
same thing my phone does but practically
worse and that's a very valid point
which brings us back to the R&D dilemma
because if LG Motorola and even Google
develops new and innovative features
that are appealing to the customers
I'm sure people are going to change
their minds about smartwatches
so yes we are in a complicated situation
in regard
to that at the moment and we're just
gonna have to wait and see what happens
personally I loved watches both analog
and smart ones about like five watches
one of them being a way too expensive
than Jeanne watch and it saddens me to
see smartwatches not being as
appreciated as I think they should be I
mean they basically got the fundamental
components of a smart phone in a much
smaller form factor
they've got touch displays Wi-Fi
Bluetooth even LTE now and they can do
so many things such as tracking
activities reading notifications
checking whether giving navigation
instructions music control and playback
keep track of your calendar and a whole
lot more but it's not enough to bring
these Android wear smartwatches to
mainstream so those were my thoughts on
Android smartwatches at the moment I
want this video to be a discussion video
