oh hey this is Ross moon with the verge and we are checking out the new Kindle paperwhite Amazon just announced it less than an hour ago as you can see we've got the older Kindle here it's actually a little bit of a smaller frame just barely noticeable feels about the same weight Amazon is promising 62% more pixels 25% more contrast of course the big thing though is this illuminated screens actually pretty even more so than we saw with the Nook with front touch are with front light before touch screen pretty fast responsive like Amazon just announced you can now see how long you've left in the chapters like CB push here we've got one minute left in the chapter we're actually a pretty fast reader apparently and for hours one minute left in the book we're at max brightness now let's see if we can bring it down a little bit and what you get something is very similar to the old Kindle in color basically the same contrast it's very evenly distributed light looks good even the kind of brightly lit setting here because it's a touch there are no buttons on the side unlike the previous non touch Kindle so you're gonna have to just swipe like this pretty fast to see how about some go fees because they're a couple pages before flashes over there we go and that is the Kindle paperwhite
