Audi’s h-tron quattro concept car runs on pure hydrogen
2016-01-11
hey it's Chris from the verge and I'm
standing in front of the Audi e-tron
Quattro concept a Tron stands for
hydrogen
now this isn't Odie's first hydrogen
concept car but it is very much a
concept there are a few real parts of it
it's previewing some of the piloted
driving technologies that will debut in
next model years out ei8 flagship sedan
for instance but this car itself this
squat SUV this low to the ground sort of
off-road vehicle with the hydrogen fuel
cell is still a few years off yet the
powertrain still needs some work and
more importantly the hydrogen
infrastructure doesn't really exist yet
toad is fighting the same problem with
its hydrogen cars and they're working on
networks in California and one in the
Northeast Corridor but nationally
globally the network to refuel a fuel
cell vehicle hydrogen fuel cell vehicle
just isn't there right now let's talk
about specs on this a stron 0-60 in
under 7 seconds that's respectable
interestingly Chevy is also quoting
under 7 seconds for the bolt so similar
there and Audi says it'll get somewhere
around 370 miles of range on a tank of
hydrogen with a refuel time of about 4
minutes that's longer than gas but not
by much and it's certainly way less than
the recharge time on even the fastest
fast chargers for fully electric
vehicles anyway that's about it for the
a strong quattro concept here at the
Detroit Auto Show we'll have a lot more
coming to the next couple days be sure
