Motion controllers make great VR lightsabers

2015-01-08
hi I'm adding the vertices and I'm Majella right now I'm drying out the stem motion controller from $0.06 that's the company behind the laser Hydra and this is a little bit similar in that it's a motion controller but what it does is have a base station back here that sends out an electromagnetic field using that I've got one tracker here on my head and I'm carrying two of them sort of like guns and they can sense their position so unlike something like the ignition which is using a camera to tell where your hands are and just sort of sensing them and trying to figure it out this actually has Hardware trackers that genuinely kind of make it a lot more accurate and also give you a much wider feel of motion this was probably one of the best BR things I've done a CES I've also gone shoe shopping which was fun in a robot body and this time throw it to her feet we'll do a little girls about 100 my god I just threw shoes on the mannequin really it's surprisingly versatile even though it's still just a little bit weird they're about five times more buttons here that I'm using but this is really really a lot of fun so the stem system was funded on Kickstarter and those units are supposed to be shipping out all by GDC this March it's also available for pre-order at $380 okay I'm good
