more than 13 years after its last season and seven years after a pretty forgettable movie x-files is coming back to Fox name limited series six episode run starring original cast members David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson and get ready because this is just another in a long long series of TV revivals we can expect for years to come x-files was a huge hit even if the last few seasons got a little iffy we're talking 62 Emmy nominations 16 wins there was a spinoff series there's another spinoff series there's a few comic book series countless pieces of creepy fan fiction really creepy fan fiction this is not the first show to make a comeback in recent memory years after its initial run in many ways you can think Jack Bauer for the new x-files after being cancelled for years prior Fox brought back 24 last year for 12 more hours and was a huge ratings success for the company which is a big reason why Fox and other channels are going through their back catalogue looking for a nostalgia Laden series there's a thirst there's a huge thirst reviving old properties right now as a species we tend to look in the past a little more funny than it actually was and whether you like the mythology of x-files or even the monster the week episodes you've gonna remember x-files more positively than negative more good episodes than bad so yes x-files is coming back and really it doesn't matter to Fox if it's good x-files or bad x-files people are gonna watch there's a built-in fan base already caught up ready to give it a chance and that incidentally is the only reason I can think of why an NBC is bringing back heroes
